Senior Environmental Compliance Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to all environmental regulations and standards within their operations based in Southampton . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental policies and procedures, conducting site assessments, and managing environmental impact reports. This senior position requires a deep understanding of environmental law and best practices in the agricultural sector, as well as strong leadership skills to guide the compliance team and liaise with regulatory bodies. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining the company's commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive environmental compliance programs and policies.
• Conduct regular environmental audits and site inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
• Prepare and submit environmental impact assessments and regulatory reports.
• Liaise with local, regional, and national environmental regulatory agencies.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on environmental best practices and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the agriculture industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK and EU environmental legislation.
• Demonstrated experience in managing environmental projects and audits.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
