Senior Estimator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join their commercial team in Plymouth . This critical role involves accurately assessing the costs associated with construction projects, preparing detailed bids, and supporting the business development process. You will work on a variety of projects, collaborating with design teams, surveyors, and subcontractors to ensure bids are competitive and profitable. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to lead the estimation function for significant projects and contribute to the company's growth and success in the South West region, working within a team that values accuracy and strategic pricing.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates and tenders for construction projects.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and Bills of Quantities to determine resource requirements.
• Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Conduct site visits to gather necessary information for accurate costings.
• Collaborate with project managers and directors to develop winning bid strategies.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of costs, suppliers, and market intelligence.

Requirements

• Significant experience in construction estimating , ideally within a main contracting environment.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry pricing.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• HNC/HND in Construction, Surveying, or a related discipline is preferred.
