About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Exploration Geologist to join their ambitious exploration team in Sheffield . This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating new oil and gas prospects, utilizing advanced geological and geophysical techniques. You will be responsible for basin analysis, prospect mapping, and contributing significantly to the company's exploration strategy and portfolio growth. This is a unique opportunity to work on exciting frontier exploration projects within the UK and potentially international arenas. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of geological play concepts and a proven track record in successful exploration campaigns, working within a dedicated technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geological assessments of potential hydrocarbon provinces and play fairway analysis.
- Integrate diverse datasets, including seismic, well, and core data, to generate and mature exploration prospects.
- Develop and present geological concepts, risk assessments, and opportunity evaluations to management.
- Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to de-risk exploration targets and define development strategies.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of new seismic acquisition programs.
- Mentor junior geologists and foster a culture of technical excellence within the exploration team.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in exploration geology , with a focus on prospect generation.
- Proven success in identifying and leading exploration drilling campaigns.
- Expertise in basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology.
- Proficiency with geological and geophysical interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions in Sheffield .
