About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Fibre Optic Engineer to join their team in the Plymouth area. This role is critical for the deployment, splicing, testing, and maintenance of advanced fibre optic networks. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-speed internet services across the region, working on challenging projects and leading technical teams. Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced fibre optic splicing and termination using fusion splicers and associated equipment.
• Conduct thorough testing and analysis of fibre optic cables using OTDR and other diagnostic tools.
• Install and maintain fibre optic infrastructure, including conduit, cables, and network termination points.
• Read and interpret complex network designs, schematics, and blueprints.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults within the fibre optic network, minimizing service disruption.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and field teams in Plymouth .

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Fibre Optic Engineer or equivalent role.
• Proficiency in fibre optic splicing, testing, and fault location techniques.
• Experience with various types of fibre optic cables and connectors.
• Ability to work with test equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in a field environment.
