Job Title: Senior Finance Business Partner
Rate: £450 - £500 per day
Type: Interim, Full Time
Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Interim Senior Finance Business Partner to join a progressive Local Authority in Greater Manchester on an initial 6-month assignment.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Senior Finance Business Partner will work closely with senior managers and directors to provide expert financial advice, challenge, and decision support. You will play a key role in shaping financial strategy, supporting organisational change, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability across the organisation.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Provide strategic financial advice and challenge to senior managers and directors
Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budget management activities
Deliver high-quality business partnering and decision support to senior stakeholders
Lead service improvement, governance, and compliance initiatives
Support organisational change and financial sustainability programmes
Build and maintain effective relationships with external partners, auditors, and key stakeholders
Contribute as a member of the Finance Management Team, supporting the continuous development of the Finance Service
Ensure robust financial controls, reporting, and performance management arrangements are in place
Essential experience:
Qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by significant experience
Previous Local Government experience is essential, ideally supporting Adult Social Care or Children's Services
Extensive experience in financial management, business partnering, and strategic finance
Strong understanding of financial planning, governance, and compliance requirements
Experience of influencing and challenging senior stakeholders in a complex organisation
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
