About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly capable and seasoned Senior Financial Controller to join their established finance department in Bristol . This role is crucial for overseeing all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and internal controls within the organisation. You will play a key role in driving financial discipline, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate and timely financial information. This position offers a significant opportunity to lead and innovate within the finance function of a respected entity in the banking and finance sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the accounting team, overseeing daily operations including AP, AR, and general ledger.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems to ensure data integrity and asset protection.
- Coordinate and manage external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts, closely monitoring financial performance against plans.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; relevant professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is mandatory.
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or controller role.
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and internal audit principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and advanced Excel skills are essential.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Previous experience in a regulated financial environment is preferred.
