Senior Flood Risk Consultant
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
A specialist environmental and water consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join their Edinburgh team. The role will focus on hydrology, hydraulic modelling and flood risk assessment, working across a range of development, infrastructure and catchment-based projects.
The Role
Deliver Flood Risk Assessments, hydrological assessments and hydraulic modelling studies.
Develop and interpret 1D and 2D hydraulic models using software such as HEC-RAS, TUFLOW and Flood Modeller.
Undertake hydrological analysis using FEH, ReFH2 and other industry-standard methodologies.
Assess flood extents, depths, velocities and climate change scenarios.
Prepare technical reports, modelling outputs and supporting documentation.
Provide technical input into flood risk management, flood alleviation and catchment projects.
Liaise with clients, regulators, local authorities and other stakeholders.
Support junior staff through technical guidance and mentoring.
Assist with project management, fee proposals and business development.
About You
Degree qualified in Hydrology, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
Several years' experience within flood risk, hydrology or hydraulic modelling consultancy.
Strong experience with HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller or similar modelling software.
Good understanding of UK flood risk policy, hydrological methodologies and climate change.
Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
Comfortable managing projects and working directly with clients.
Chartered status or working towards CIWEM, ICE or equivalent would be advantageous
