About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Senior Formulation Scientist to join their dynamic research and development team in Belfast . This role is critical in the development of novel drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical formulations. You will leverage your deep scientific expertise to design, develop, and optimize formulations for various therapeutic areas, contributing directly to the company's pipeline advancement. Working within a collaborative R&D environment, you will be responsible for experimental design, execution, data analysis, and reporting, playing a key part in translating scientific concepts into viable product candidates. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned scientist to contribute to groundbreaking pharmaceutical innovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute formulation development studies for small molecules and/or biologics, including pre-formulation, solubility enhancement, and stability assessments.
- Develop and optimize oral solid dosage forms, parenteral formulations, or other advanced drug delivery systems.
- Utilize various characterization techniques (e.g., HPLC, DSC, XRPD) to assess drug substance and drug product properties.
- Investigate and troubleshoot formulation challenges, proposing innovative solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive formulation development reports and contribute to regulatory filings.
- Collaborate closely with analytical development, process development, and project management teams in Belfast .
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Proven expertise in developing various dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables).
- Strong understanding of drug delivery principles, materials science, and physicochemical characterization techniques.
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and/or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment in Northern Ireland .
