About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Formulation Scientist to join their drug development team based in Edinburgh . This role is central to the design, development, and optimization of novel drug delivery systems and formulations. You will leverage your expertise in pharmaceutics to guide projects from concept to clinical evaluation, ensuring the successful translation of scientific discoveries into viable pharmaceutical products. This is a key position for a scientist eager to contribute to cutting-edge pharmaceutical research in a collaborative and stimulating environment in Scotland .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative pharmaceutical formulations for various routes of administration (e.g., oral, injectable, topical).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterization of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients.
- Optimize formulations for stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability.
- Plan and execute formulation development studies, analyze results, and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Collaborate closely with analytical, process development, and regulatory affairs teams.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in formulation science and drug delivery technologies.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Strong knowledge of drug delivery systems, excipient functionality, and compatibility studies.
- Experience with various analytical techniques for formulation characterization (e.g., HPLC, DSC, XRD).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a cross-functional team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a creative approach to formulation challenges.
