Senior Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a creative and experienced Senior Formulation Scientist to join their dynamic product development team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing innovative formulations for a range of consumer and industrial products. You will lead projects from conception through to launch, working with cross-functional teams including R&D, marketing, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of material science, chemical interactions, and product performance testing. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation development of new products, ensuring desired performance, stability, and aesthetic qualities.
• Conduct experimental studies to investigate the impact of various ingredients and processing parameters on formulation properties.
• Develop and implement appropriate testing protocols to evaluate product performance and stability.
• Collaborate with procurement and manufacturing teams to source raw materials and ensure process compatibility.
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges and identify effective solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation, including formulation reports, specifications, and scale-up documentation.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product formulation development within a relevant industry (e.g., personal care, coatings, adhesives).
• Strong knowledge of colloid and surface chemistry, rheology, and material interactions.
• Proven ability to design and execute experimental plans and interpret complex data.
• Experience with analytical and characterization techniques relevant to formulation science.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
