Senior Freight Forwarder

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Freight Forwarder to manage complex international shipping operations from their Leeds office. This pivotal role involves coordinating the movement of goods across borders, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and optimizing transit times and costs. You will work with a diverse range of clients, providing expert advice and managing all aspects of the freight forwarding process. Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end freight forwarding operations, including air, sea, and road transport.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, and clients to ensure smooth cargo movement.
• Prepare and process all necessary documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and insurance certificates.
• Provide expert advice to clients on international trade regulations, tariffs, and shipping best practices.
• Negotiate rates with carriers and service providers to achieve competitive pricing and service levels.
• Resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the shipping process, proactively communicating with all parties involved.

Requirements

• Significant experience in freight forwarding, with a proven track record in managing international shipments.
• In-depth knowledge of customs procedures, Incoterms, and international trade compliance.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using freight forwarding software and relevant IT systems.
• Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders.
• Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in logistics and supply chain management are advantageous.
