About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Game Designer - Systems to join their talented team, operating fully remotely from Leeds . You will be instrumental in crafting deep, engaging, and balanced game systems that form the core of their exciting new project. Collaborating closely with narrative, art, and engineering departments, you will define player progression, combat mechanics, economic models, and other key gameplay elements. This role is ideal for a creative thinker who excels at translating complex ideas into intuitive and fun gameplay experiences, contributing to a dynamic and innovative development culture in a remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, document, and iterate on core game systems, including combat, progression, economy, and AI behaviors.
• Balance game mechanics to ensure a challenging yet fair and engaging player experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems design with narrative, art, and technical requirements.
• Create clear and concise design documentation (GDDs, flowcharts, spreadsheets) for assigned systems.
• Playtest and analyze game systems, providing actionable feedback for improvements.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and player expectations in systems design.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in game design, with a strong focus on systems design.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing complex game systems for shipped titles.
• Excellent understanding of game balance, player psychology, and engagement loops.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable solutions.
• Proficiency in documentation tools and methodologies; experience with data analysis is a plus.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, vital for remote teamwork.
