About the Role

Our client is looking for a creative and experienced Senior Game Designer to join their acclaimed studio in Edinburgh . You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and refining core gameplay mechanics, systems, and player progression for exciting new projects. This role requires a deep understanding of player psychology, game design principles, and the ability to translate creative vision into engaging playable experiences. You will work closely with a talented team of artists, programmers, and producers, contributing to a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and pushes the boundaries of interactive entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and document compelling core gameplay mechanics, systems, and features.
• Iterate on game design through prototyping, playtesting, and data analysis.
• Collaborate with programmers and artists to ensure design vision is realized effectively.
• Balance game systems, economy, and progression to ensure a fair and engaging player experience.
• Create clear and concise design documentation for the development team.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to the overall design culture of the studio.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in game design , with a significant contribution to shipped titles.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work and a deep understanding of player experience.
• Expertise in system design, level design, or narrative design, depending on project needs.
• Proficiency with design documentation tools and concepts.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Passion for games and a keen understanding of player motivations and market trends.
