Senior Game Programmer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Game Programmer to join their dynamic team in Reading . You will play a key role in developing core gameplay mechanics, engine features, and tools that drive our exciting projects in the entertainment industry . This hybrid position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with designers and artists in the studio while enjoying the flexibility of remote work on certain days. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize core gameplay systems and features using C++ or other relevant programming languages.
• Develop and maintain game engine components, tools, and frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and other programmers to bring game features to life.
• Debug and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring code stability and performance.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
• Mentor junior programmers and contribute to code reviews and technical discussions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in game programming , with a strong focus on gameplay systems or engine development.
• Proficiency in C++ and experience with modern C++ standards.
• Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Experience with debugging tools and performance optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
