About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and talented Senior Game Programmer to join their prestigious studio in Manchester . In this critical on-site role, you will be a key contributor to the development of innovative and engaging video games, taking ownership of complex gameplay systems and contributing to architectural decisions. You will work closely with designers, artists, and other programmers to bring ambitious game worlds to life, ensuring a polished and performant player experience. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust and efficient gameplay systems and core engine features.
• Collaborate with game designers to translate innovative gameplay concepts into functional code.
• Optimize game performance, memory usage, and loading times across target platforms.
• Participate in code reviews , providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring code quality and maintainability.
• Debug complex issues, identify root causes, and implement reliable solutions in a timely manner.
• Mentor junior programmers and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's development processes and tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in game programming , with a strong focus on gameplay systems.
• Expertise in C++ and experience with a major game engine such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Strong understanding of game architecture , data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
