About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Gameplay Programmer to join their fully remote development team. This position is critical for designing, implementing, and optimizing the core gameplay systems that drive player interaction and experience. You will work collaboratively with designers, artists, and other engineers to translate creative visions into robust, performant, and engaging gameplay mechanics. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and refine core gameplay systems and mechanics using C++ and the chosen game engine (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Collaborate closely with game designers and artists to ensure gameplay features are implemented accurately and intuitively.
- Optimize code for performance, memory usage, and stability across multiple platforms.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex gameplay issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Mentor junior programmers, review code, and contribute to establishing best practices for gameplay programming.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Gameplay Programmer in the game industry.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with major game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Solid understanding of game design principles and how to translate them into code.
- Experience with performance profiling, debugging tools, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a remote, distributed team in Reading .
