Senior Geologist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Geologist to lead critical exploration initiatives within their London-based operations. This pivotal role involves contributing significantly to the discovery and evaluation of new mineral deposits, utilizing advanced geological mapping and data interpretation techniques. You will be instrumental in shaping the company's future resource pipeline, working within a dynamic team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of geological science and resource development in the London area and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geological surveys, including mapping, sampling, and core logging, to identify and delineate mineral prospects.
• Interpret and integrate geophysical, geochemical, and drilling data to build detailed 3D geological models.
• Develop and manage exploration budgets and timelines, ensuring efficient resource allocation and project progression.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders regarding exploration targets and viability.
• Collaborate with mining engineers and geophysicists to ensure a seamless transition from exploration to resource definition and extraction phases.
• Mentor junior geologists and foster a culture of technical excellence and safety within the exploration team.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration geology, with a proven track record of successful discoveries.
• Expertise in structural geology , stratigraphy, and igneous/metamorphic petrology.
• Proficiency with geological modelling software (e.g., Leapfrog, ioGAS) and GIS applications.
• Experience in data analysis, statistical interpretation, and resource estimation techniques.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining sector.
