Senior Geophysicist - Seismic Interpretation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geophysicist specializing in seismic interpretation to join their exploration team, operating on a hybrid basis from their Oxford office. This role is pivotal in identifying and delineating subsurface hydrocarbon prospects through the advanced analysis of seismic data. You will work closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to build integrated subsurface models that drive exploration strategy and investment decisions within the Oil & Gas sector. Your ability to translate complex seismic data into actionable geological insights will be critical to the success of exploration campaigns. This position offers a dynamic mix of collaborative office-based work and focused remote analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed seismic data interpretation, including structural and stratigraphic analysis.
• Attribute analysis, inversion, and velocity modeling to enhance subsurface understanding.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information.
• Identify and map exploration prospects and leads, performing risk assessments.
• Collaborate with geologists to build integrated subsurface models.
• Prepare and present high-quality technical reports and presentations to management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related geoscience field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in seismic interpretation for exploration.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Hampson-Russell, OpendTect).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and data quality assessment.
• Experience with quantitative seismic interpretation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
