Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Energy Infrastructure

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to critical energy infrastructure projects across the UK, based in their Birmingham office. This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, and ensuring the stability of large-scale energy installations, including wind farms and power plants. You will play a key role in de-risking projects from a ground-engineering perspective, providing expert advice and technical leadership. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations , including site characterization and data analysis for energy projects.
• Design and specify foundations (shallow and deep), earthworks, and slope stability solutions for power generation facilities and transmission infrastructure.
• Oversee and manage site investigations, including drilling, CPT, and in-situ testing programs.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, calculations, and design drawings.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site teams.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and construction partners to ensure project success and compliance.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility for chartered status.
• A minimum of 8 years' experience in geotechnical engineering , with a focus on infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and numerical modeling (e.g., PLAXIS).
• Experience with ground improvement techniques and seismic analysis.
• Proficiency in relevant geotechnical software and design codes.
• Strong report writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
