About the Role
Our client is a globally recognized leader in renewable energy development and is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to enhance their offshore wind projects team in Manchester . This role is integral to assessing and designing the foundations for offshore wind turbines, ensuring structural integrity and stability in challenging marine environments. You will provide critical geotechnical expertise, guiding site investigation strategies and foundation design methodologies. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the expansion of offshore wind energy, working on high-profile projects and collaborating with a diverse team of experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the geotechnical aspects of offshore wind farm development, from site selection to detailed foundation design.
- Plan and oversee marine geotechnical site investigations, including geophysical surveys and CPTs/boreholes.
- Interpret geotechnical data and perform advanced soil mechanics analyses for foundation design (e.g., monopiles, jackets).
- Develop and review geotechnical design reports, specifications, and risk assessments.
- Liaise with clients, regulators, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project requirements are met.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering and offshore wind foundation technology.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong emphasis on offshore foundations .
- Proven track record in the design of foundations for large-scale offshore structures, preferably wind turbines.
- Expertise in soil-structure interaction, advanced numerical modeling (e.g., PLAXIS), and offshore site investigation techniques.
- Strong understanding of relevant industry standards and best practices (e.g., DNV, Eurocode).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
