Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Reading . This role involves managing and delivering a range of geotechnical investigations and designs for complex infrastructure and development projects. You will be responsible for assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures, and providing expert advice to clients and project teams. This is an excellent opportunity to lead challenging projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the growth of the geotechnical department, working on diverse and impactful schemes across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute geotechnical site investigations, including site work and laboratory testing interpretation.
• Undertake detailed geotechnical design for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and ground improvement schemes.
• Prepare high-quality geotechnical reports, risk assessments, and design documentation.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice to internal teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and client relationships effectively.
• Mentor and develop junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant professional experience (e.g., 7+ years) in geotechnical engineering, covering both desk study and detailed design.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and relevant design codes.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng MICE) or equivalent is highly advantageous.
