Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and technically adept Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their fully remote consultancy team. This role is crucial for providing expert geotechnical advice and design solutions across a broad spectrum of projects, from groundworks for residential developments to complex industrial and infrastructure schemes. You will lead investigations, interpret data, and develop innovative foundation and earthworks designs, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with clients and internal teams, offering specialized knowledge and project leadership from a remote setting, contributing to the company's reputation for excellence in geotechnical engineering nationwide, and guiding less experienced engineers through complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical site investigations, including desk studies, site reconnaissance, and intrusive investigations.
• Interpret soil investigation data and prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and design recommendations.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, earthworks, and slope stability measures.
• Provide expert advice on ground improvement techniques and the mitigation of geological hazards.
• Review and approve designs and technical documents prepared by other team members.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project outcomes and compliance.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
• Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng MICE) or equivalent is essential.
• Extensive experience with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, Geo5, or similar.
• Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and client relationships autonomously.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, suitable for remote operation.
