Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their specialist team based in Liverpool, Merseyside . This critical role involves providing expert geotechnical advice and leading investigations and design for a wide range of construction projects. You will be instrumental in assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, earthworks, and slope stability solutions, ensuring the safety and viability of significant developments. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, intrusive ground investigations, and laboratory testing programs.
• Perform detailed geotechnical design for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Analyse soil-structure interaction and provide recommendations for slope stability and ground improvement.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, design documents, and construction method statements.
• Provide technical supervision and support to site investigation teams and construction personnel.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CEng or equivalent is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, or similar finite element analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of ground investigation techniques and interpretation of CPT, SPT, and laboratory data.
• Excellent report writing skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
