About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their engineering consultancy in Sheffield . This role involves providing expert advice and technical solutions for a range of projects, focusing on soil mechanics, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques. You will manage geotechnical investigations, interpret data, and produce detailed reports and designs, working closely with project managers, clients, and site teams. This is a key opportunity for a skilled geotechnical engineer to take a leading role in diverse infrastructure and energy projects, contributing to safe and sustainable groundwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage ground investigations, including site reconnaissance, intrusive investigations, and laboratory testing.
- Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess ground conditions and potential risks.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks for various projects.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, calculations, and design drawings.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy or construction.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and design (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of soil behavior, foundation engineering, and slope stability analysis.
- Experience in managing complex geotechnical projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and project management skills.
