Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their engineering team in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK . This role is essential for providing expert geotechnical analysis and design for a range of infrastructure and energy projects within the Oil & Gas sector and related industries. Working in a hybrid model, you will apply advanced principles of soil mechanics and foundation engineering to ensure the stability and safety of structures. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading geotechnical investigations, developing robust foundation designs, and managing project deliverables effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and oversee geotechnical site investigations, including data analysis and interpretation.
• Perform detailed foundation design for various structures such as platforms, pipelines, and processing facilities.
• Develop slope stability analyses and ground improvement recommendations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geotechnical engineers.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure geotechnical designs are integrated effectively with overall project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering , with a focus on the energy sector.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, WALLAP).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and site investigation techniques.
• Experience with onshore and offshore Oil & Gas projects is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
