Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This vital role involves the assessment of ground conditions and the design of foundations and earthworks for offshore structures and onshore facilities within the oil and gas industry . You will be responsible for providing expert geotechnical advice, managing site investigations, and ensuring the stability and safety of critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in geotechnical engineering and a strong understanding of the unique challenges presented by diverse geological environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and interpret ground investigations, including site surveys, boreholes, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess bearing capacity, settlement, and slope stability.
• Design foundations for offshore platforms, wind turbines, and onshore structures, including piled and gravity foundations.
• Develop technical specifications for geotechnical works and equipment.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, assessments, and recommendations for project teams and clients.
• Ensure all designs and recommendations comply with relevant industry standards and regulations for onshore and offshore projects.
• Collaborate with structural engineers, marine engineers, and project managers to integrate geotechnical designs into overall project plans.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering , with a focus on the energy sector.
• Proven experience in foundation design for offshore and onshore structures.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and design (e.g., Plaxis, Geo5).
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills, essential for providing expert advice in Stoke-on-Trent .
