About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly qualified Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Derby , operating under a hybrid work model. This role is pivotal in assessing ground conditions and providing expert geotechnical advice for a variety of projects, particularly within the energy and infrastructure sectors. You will be responsible for leading site investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and designing foundations and earthworks to ensure structural integrity and project success. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage site investigations, including desk studies, ground investigation fieldwork, and laboratory testing programs.
- Analyze geotechnical data, including soil and rock mechanics, to determine ground parameters.
- Design and specify foundations (e.g., shallow, deep), retaining structures, and earthworks.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, risk assessments, and technical recommendations.
- Provide expert geotechnical input during the design, construction, and operational phases of projects.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; MSc in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design principles.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
- Experience in managing geotechnical investigations and design projects.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
