About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the immaculate condition and strategic development of their prestigious golf courses located remotely. This is a unique opportunity for a leader in turf management to innovate and implement best practices from a distance, ensuring world-class playing conditions year-round. You will be instrumental in driving sustainable course management strategies, leading a team of groundskeepers, and collaborating with club management to enhance the overall golfing experience for members and visitors, all while operating within a flexible, remote-first work environment that values autonomy and results. This role requires a proactive approach and exceptional communication skills to manage operations effectively across different locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive turf maintenance plans, including irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and mowing schedules, ensuring optimal playing conditions.
- Manage and lead a team of course maintenance staff, providing training, setting performance standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Oversee the budget for course maintenance operations, including labor, equipment, and supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Implement and monitor sustainable environmental practices, including water conservation and integrated pest management programs.
- Collaborate with club management, golf professionals, and committee members on course improvement projects and strategic planning initiatives.
- Maintain and operate all golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and safely operated.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
- Proven expertise in turfgrass management , including a strong understanding of agronomy, soil science, and entomology.
- Possession of relevant certifications such as GCSAA Class A or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience with irrigation systems and water management technologies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage remotely.
- Proficiency in using technology for planning, budgeting, and team communication.
