Senior Grid Connection Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Grid Connection Engineer to join their expanding team in Sheffield . This role is essential for managing and executing the grid connection process for new energy generation projects, ensuring compliance with all network operator requirements and industry standards. You will lia come into play in liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission Owners (TOs), conducting necessary studies, and ensuring smooth integration of renewable and conventional power sources into the national grid. This is a critical position for an experienced engineer focused on enabling the UK's energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end grid connection process for various energy projects, from application to commissioning.
• Engage with DNOs and TOs to understand grid connection requirements, negotiate terms, and secure approvals.
• Conduct or oversee power system studies (e.g., load flow, fault level, stability) to assess grid impact and connection feasibility.
• Develop and review grid connection designs, single-line diagrams, and protection settings.
• Ensure project designs and specifications adhere to relevant grid codes and regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with project development, engineering, and construction teams to ensure timely and successful grid connections.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in grid connection engineering, power systems, or distribution network operations.
• Strong knowledge of UK grid codes, connection agreements, and regulatory processes.
• Experience with power system analysis tools and software is highly beneficial.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
