About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Grid Integration Engineer to join their expanding team in Southampton . This critical role involves ensuring the seamless and reliable integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems into the national power grid. You will play a key role in developing technical solutions, conducting studies, and providing expert advice to facilitate the transition to a more sustainable energy future. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of power systems engineering, grid codes, and regulatory frameworks, working within a collaborative and innovative environment that values technical excellence and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies for the integration of renewable energy sources (solar, wind) into the electricity grid.
- Conduct power flow, short circuit, and stability studies to assess grid impact.
- Ensure compliance with national and international grid connection codes and standards.
- Collaborate with system operators, utilities, and project developers on grid connection requirements.
- Design and specify grid interconnection equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers within the grid integration team.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in power systems engineering , with a focus on grid integration.
- Strong understanding of power system dynamics, stability, and control.
- Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT).
- Knowledge of UK grid codes and regulatory requirements for energy projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
