About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Health and Safety Manager to oversee safety operations for their construction projects in the Bristol region and beyond. This leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) strategies to ensure the well-being of all personnel and compliance with legal requirements. Working in a hybrid capacity, you will combine strategic planning and policy development in the office with essential site visits and team engagement. This is a critical position for a seasoned professional dedicated to fostering a robust safety culture and minimizing risks across all company operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor the organization's health and safety strategy and policies.
- Lead and mentor the health and safety team, providing expert guidance and support.
- Conduct high-level risk assessments and develop appropriate control measures for complex projects.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and local HSE legislation and industry standards.
- Investigate serious incidents, analyze trends, and implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders on all HSE matters.
- Promote a positive safety culture through training, communication, and engagement initiatives.
Requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Chartered membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent professional body.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in managing Health and Safety in the construction industry, with a proven track record of strategic leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management, and safety management systems.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
- Experience in conducting audits and inspections, and developing corrective action plans.
- Ability to travel to sites as required for the hybrid working model.
