About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Highways Engineer to join their esteemed team in Edinburgh, Scotland . You will play a lead role in the design, development, and management of key highway and infrastructure projects. This position requires a proactive individual who can contribute to all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and detailed design to construction support. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring projects meet high standards of engineering excellence, safety, and sustainability, contributing to the enhancement of Scotland's transportation network.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of highway infrastructure projects, including road alignments, junction design, and drainage systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies, options appraisals, and develop design solutions.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and contract documentation for tender.
- Undertake site visits and provide engineering support during the construction phase.
- Ensure compliance with DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) and other relevant standards.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians within the highways team.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with a specialization in highways.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in highway engineering.
- Proven experience in the design of rural and urban roads, including junction and drainage design.
- Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant traffic modelling tools.
- Strong understanding of UK highway standards and specifications.
