Senior HSE Manager
- London
- Permanent·On-site
- Full time
- £55,000 - £65,000 Per Annum
Job Description
We're working with a drylining contractor looking to appoint a Senior HSE Manager to take the lead across their Health, Safety & Environmental function.
You’ll sit above a team of HSE Managers operating across multiple projects and trades, providing leadership, consistency and direction across the group, while reporting directly into board level.
That said, you'll still be stuck in day-to-day yourself, this isn't a sitting behind a desk sort of role.
The business has grown considerably and, with further growth planned, they’re looking for someone capable of developing the HSE function alongside it.
The role
You’ll take overall responsibility for HSE across the business, including:
- Managing and developing a team of HSE Managers working across different trades and regions
- Setting the HSE strategy and ensuring standards are consistent across the group
- Working closely with operational and senior management teams
- Reporting directly into the board and providing clear visibility on performance, risk and improvement
- Reviewing existing systems, procedures and policies and improving them where required
- Leading investigations into significant incidents and ensuring lessons are implemented across the wider business
- Supporting project teams on complex or higher-risk schemes
- Driving a positive safety culture without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
- Ensuring the HSE function keeps pace with the continued growth of the company
Who we're looking for
Ideally, you’ll have a strong background within drylining, interiors or specialist subcontracting, with a genuine understanding of how these businesses operate on site.
You’ll already be operating at senior HSE level and, importantly, will have experience managing other Health & Safety professionals rather than simply managing projects yourself.
We’re looking for someone commercially aware, confident dealing with senior leadership and capable of challenging people when required while still maintaining strong relationships with operational teams.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of HSE within a growing contractor, build and develop the team beneath you and have genuine input at board level
