About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Operations Engineer to lead key improvement initiatives within their facility in Plymouth, Devon, UK . This role is critical for driving operational efficiency, implementing advanced manufacturing techniques, and ensuring the optimisation of production systems. You will work closely with the operations management team to identify strategic opportunities, manage complex projects, and mentor junior engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles, a strong track record in process improvement, and the leadership skills necessary to guide teams towards achieving ambitious operational targets, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of optimised manufacturing processes , systems, and layouts to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Drive the application of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other continuous improvement tools across operations.
- Analyse production data, identify key performance drivers, and develop strategies for performance enhancement.
- Manage cross-functional project teams, ensuring successful project delivery on time and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and operational staff.
- Develop and maintain robust process documentation and operational standards.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a focus on operations and process improvement.
- Extensive experience with Lean Manufacturing , Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred), and project management.
- Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and manage cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
