Senior Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Information Security Engineer to join their established IT department based in Bradford . This hybrid position requires an individual with a deep understanding of network security, system hardening, and threat mitigation strategies. You will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining security solutions that protect the organization's critical data and infrastructure. This role offers a great opportunity to lead technical security initiatives and mentor junior engineers within a structured, hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise-level security infrastructure , including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN solutions.
• Conduct in-depth vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, developing remediation plans.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets.
• Manage and optimize security tools and technologies, such as SIEM, EDR, and access control systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and IT staff on security matters.
• Respond to and manage security incidents, leading investigations and implementing effective countermeasures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in information security engineering .
• Extensive knowledge of network protocols, system administration (Windows/Linux), and cloud security principles (AWS, Azure).
• Proven experience with security architecture design and implementation.
• Proficiency in security scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
