About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Instrumentation Engineer to support their operations in the Plymouth area. This role is vital for ensuring the accurate measurement, monitoring, and control of critical processes within the energy industry. You will be responsible for the design, specification, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring reliability and compliance with industry standards. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, enabling effective collaboration while providing flexibility in work location. You will play a key part in enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, specify, and select instrumentation, control valves, and automation systems for industrial processes.
- Develop P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control philosophies for new installations and modifications.
- Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of instruments and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control, and safety systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC) and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to optimize system performance and reliability.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 7 years of experience in instrumentation engineering , particularly within the energy or process industries.
- Strong knowledge of process control principles, PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
- Experience with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe designs.
- Familiarity with calibration techniques and maintenance strategies for various instrument types.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
