Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex insurance applications, assessing risks and determining eligibility for coverage.
- Develop and apply appropriate underwriting guidelines and pricing strategies to ensure profitability.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and agents, building strong professional relationships.
- Review and manage existing policy renewals, identifying opportunities for adjustment or cancellation based on risk profile changes.
- Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and product development teams to provide insights on risk trends and market conditions.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide guidance on complex cases and underwriting best practices.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on commercial lines or specialty insurance.
- Proven ability to interpret financial statements, risk assessments, and other relevant documentation.
- Strong understanding of insurance law, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics in the United Kingdom .
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Relevant professional qualifications such as ACII or equivalent.
