Senior Java Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Java Developer to join their high-performing software engineering team in Reading . This role is central to the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and high-performance Java-based applications. You will contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and deployment. The ideal candidate is passionate about writing clean, efficient code and thrives in a collaborative environment focused on delivering innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level applications using Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot).
• Write high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and other developers, to define and deliver new features.
• Optimize application performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective solutions.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help drive technical strategy for Java development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Java development , with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Expertise in Java SE and enterprise Java technologies, including frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, or similar.
• Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs .
• Proficiency with database technologies (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL) and ORM frameworks.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, version control systems (Git), and CI/CD tools.
