Job Description
A well-established financial markets firm is seeking a Senior Java Trading Systems Developer to support the continued development of its electronic trading technology.This is a hands-on engineering position focused on building and improving systems used to manage orders and trading activity across multiple markets and venues. The successful candidate will work closely with front-office users, quantitative specialists and technology teams to deliver reliable, scalable and high-performance solutions.The role would suit an experienced developer from an electronic trading, capital markets or market-making environment who is interested in joining a growing and technically ambitious business.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain trading systems using Java
- Develop functionality supporting order management, routing and execution
- Work across the full trade lifecycle, from order entry and validation through to execution and downstream processing
- Build scalable, resilient and performance-focused infrastructure
- Collaborate with trading, quantitative and engineering teams to deliver new capabilities
- Contribute to the ongoing development and modernisation of the trading platform
- Support connectivity and workflow requirements across multiple markets and counterparties
- Improve system reliability, performance and operational resilience
- Participate in technical design and architectural decision-making while remaining hands-on
Requirements
- Strong commercial Java development experience
- Experience developing systems within electronic trading or capital markets
- Good understanding of order management and the trade lifecycle
- Background in areas such as equities, foreign exchange, market making, derivatives or digital markets
- Experience with order routing, execution workflows or trading algorithms
- Understanding of market structure and electronic execution
- Experience working closely with front-office and quantitative teams
- Ability to contribute to system design, architecture and implementation
Desirable
- Experience across more than one asset class
- Exposure to high-performance or low-latency systems
- FIX protocol or exchange connectivity experience
- Knowledge of Python, KDB or similar technologies
- Experience developing or modernising a trading platform
- Experience working in a growing, changing or build-focused environment
