Senior Laboratory Analysts GC/MS, LC/MS & ICP
Location: Buckinghamshire Working Hours: 09:00-17:00, Monday-Friday Salary: Competitive VARIOUS RANGES available
We are currently recruiting for Senior Analytical Scientists across GC-MS, LC-MS and ICP/Inorganic disciplines within an established international environmental testing laboratory.
These are senior technical and leadership positions, ideal for experienced analysts who have worked within an environmental or similar testing laboratory and have a strong background in method development, validation and technical training.
The successful candidates will work within a UKAS-accredited environment, providing technical expertise, supporting laboratory performance and helping to develop and mentor analytical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior technical expertise within GC-MS, LC-MS or ICP/Inorganic analytical areas.
- Lead and support the delivery of analytical work to agreed quality, customer and turnaround-time requirements.
- Develop, optimise, validate and troubleshoot analytical methods.
- Investigate analytical issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot relevant instrumentation.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to analysts within the laboratory.
- Train, mentor and develop junior and experienced scientists.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of laboratory quality systems.
- Work in accordance with UKAS / ISO 17025 requirements and associated quality procedures.
- Investigate non-conforming work and contribute to appropriate root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement across analytical processes, instrumentation and laboratory practices.
- Ensure analytical results are accurate, reliable and delivered within agreed timescales.
The Peron:
- BSc or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Significant analytical laboratory experience within an environmental, environmental testing or similar testing laboratory.
Strong practical experience in at least one of the following areas:
- GC-MS / GC-MS/MS
- LC-MS / LC-MS/MS
- ICP / Inorganic analysis
- Proven experience in analytical method development, optimisation and validation.
- Experience working within a UKAS-accredited / ISO 17025 laboratory environment.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership, training and mentoring to analytical staff.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems and analytical best practice.
- Experience troubleshooting analytical methods and instrumentation.
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and deliver results to a high standard.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to support and develop other scientists.
