About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and diligent Senior Legal Counsel to join their esteemed legal department in Aberdeen . This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive legal support and strategic advice across a range of corporate and commercial matters. You will be instrumental in safeguarding the company's interests, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and contributing to the ongoing success and integrity of our client's operations within the vibrant legal landscape of Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including service agreements, partnership deals, and intellectual property licenses.
- Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management to senior management and various business units.
- Conduct thorough legal research on complex issues and prepare comprehensive legal opinions and memoranda.
- Manage and resolve litigation matters, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
- Oversee compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and advise on privacy matters.
- Support M&A activities, including due diligence, transaction structuring, and documentation.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience in corporate or commercial law.
- Proven track record in contract negotiation and drafting, with strong commercial acumen.
- In-depth knowledge of UK and Scottish commercial law, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience managing litigation and dispute resolution.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
