About the Role

Our client, a leader in the Arts & Entertainment industry, is seeking a highly creative and technically proficient Senior Lighting Designer for their operations based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is crucial for conceptualizing and implementing innovative lighting designs for a variety of live events, theatre productions, and concerts. The ideal candidate will possess a keen artistic eye, a deep understanding of lighting technology, and the ability to translate creative concepts into visually stunning realities that enhance audience experiences. You will work closely with production teams to deliver exceptional visual spectacles for diverse events across the region and beyond, contributing to Tyne and Wear's vibrant cultural scene.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative lighting concepts and designs in collaboration with directors and production teams.
• Create detailed lighting plots, cue sheets, and technical specifications for all designed shows.
• Oversee the programming and operation of lighting control systems during rehearsals and performances.
• Source and manage lighting equipment, ensuring optimal technical performance and budget adherence.
• Conduct site visits and technical checks to ensure designs are feasible and effectively implemented.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in stage and event lighting.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Lighting Designer in live events or theatre.
• Proficiency with industry-standard lighting design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Capture).
• Strong knowledge of various lighting fixtures, control consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Hog), and associated technologies.
• Excellent artistic sensibility and a proven portfolio showcasing diverse lighting designs.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing production requirements.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
