Senior Materials Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Materials Engineer to join their fully remote technical division. This position is crucial for ensuring the selection, application, and performance of materials used in demanding environments within the Oil & Gas industry . You will provide expert advice on material selection, corrosion control, welding, and failure analysis, contributing to the integrity and longevity of critical infrastructure. Working remotely, you will collaborate with project teams, vendors, and inspection personnel worldwide, driving material solutions that enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on material selection for various applications, considering service conditions and industry standards.
• Develop and review material specifications, welding procedures, and NDT requirements.
• Analyze material failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise on corrosion prevention and mitigation strategies.
• Support project engineering teams with material-related technical queries.
• Stay abreast of advancements in materials science and their application in the Oil & Gas sector .
• Conduct material testing and qualification programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in materials engineering, with a strong focus on the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of metals, polymers, and composites used in challenging environments.
• Experience with corrosion engineering, failure analysis, and welding metallurgy.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills suitable for a remote work setting.
