About the Role
Our client, a leader in the Oil & Gas industry , is seeking a skilled Senior Materials Engineer to join their technical team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands . This role is crucial for ensuring the selection, application, and integrity of materials used in demanding offshore and onshore energy infrastructure. You will provide expert advice on material selection, corrosion control, failure analysis, and material specifications, playing a vital role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and longevity of critical assets. The position offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge projects and tackle complex material challenges in a high-stakes environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Specify materials for pipelines, structures, and equipment, considering operating conditions and environmental factors.
- Develop and implement corrosion control strategies and monitor their effectiveness.
- Conduct failure analysis investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Review and approve material certifications and supplier quality plans.
- Provide technical support on material-related issues to engineering, construction, and maintenance teams.
- Stay abreast of new material technologies and industry best practices relevant to the Oil & Gas sector .
Requirements
- Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in materials engineering , with significant exposure to the Oil & Gas industry .
- Strong knowledge of metals, polymers, composites, and ceramics, particularly in corrosive environments.
- Proven experience in corrosion engineering, NACE/AMPP certifications are advantageous.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, ASTM).
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret technical data.
