About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in the automotive sector, to join their innovative team remotely, based out of Glasgow . This position is key to the development of next-generation automotive components and systems. You will be responsible for leading design initiatives, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful implementation of mechanical solutions that meet rigorous automotive standards for performance, durability, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of automotive mechanical components and systems, including powertrain and chassis elements.
- Utilize advanced CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) for 3D modelling and 2D detailing.
- Perform comprehensive engineering analysis, including FEA , CFD, and thermal simulations.
- Collaborate effectively with remote cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and software developers.
- Develop and manage technical specifications, Bill of Materials (BOMs) , and design documentation.
- Support prototype build, testing, and validation activities, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related automotive engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in automotive mechanical design.
- Proven experience with automotive product development cycles and standards.
- Expertise in 3D CAD software and simulation tools relevant to automotive applications.
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, materials, and manufacturing processes in the automotive industry.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective remote teamwork.
