About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a specialization in the automotive sector to join their state-of-the-art facility in Bristol . This key role involves leading the design and development of advanced automotive components and systems, ensuring superior performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You will be instrumental in driving innovation within a fast-paced product development cycle, working closely with a dedicated team of engineers and designers. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex automotive mechanical systems, such as powertrain components, chassis elements, or thermal management systems.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using industry-standard software, adhering to automotive standards (e.g., ISO).
- Conduct rigorous FEA simulations for stress, thermal, and vibration analysis to validate design integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vehicle dynamics, manufacturing, and testing, to optimize designs.
- Manage design iterations, conduct design reviews, and ensure designs meet all functional and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in automotive mechanical design.
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5, Siemens NX) and FEA tools (e.g., Abaqus, ANSYS).
- Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, casting, injection molding).
- Experience with DFM/DFA principles and GD&T.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions.
