About the Role

Our client, a leader in providing innovative solutions for the energy sector, is looking for a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Derby . This role will involve the design and development of mechanical systems and equipment used in various energy generation and storage applications. You will work on challenging projects, from conceptual design through to prototype development and testing, contributing to the advancement of energy technologies. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of mechanical systems for the energy sector .
• Utilize advanced 3D CAD software and perform complex FEA and CFD analyses to optimize designs.
• Develop detailed technical specifications, drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, control systems, and project engineers.
• Oversee prototyping and testing phases, analyzing results, and driving design iterations.
• Ensure designs meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards within the energy industry .

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and development, with a focus on the energy sector .
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and advanced simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and structural analysis relevant to energy systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical initiatives.
