About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on medical devices to join their innovative team in Belfast . This role is integral to the design and development of life-saving medical equipment, requiring a meticulous approach and a deep understanding of regulatory requirements. You will be involved in the entire product development cycle, from ideation through to market release, working within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to impactful technology in the Northern Ireland healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of complex medical devices , ensuring compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 13485).
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).
- Perform rigorous analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis , to validate designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs, throughout the product development process.
- Oversee prototype fabrication, testing, and validation activities, documenting results thoroughly.
- Investigate and resolve design-related issues arising from manufacturing or field performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, with a significant portion focused on medical device development .
- Proficiency in CAD software and experience with simulation tools (FEA).
- Thorough understanding of GMP, ISO 13485, and other relevant medical device regulations.
- Experience with materials commonly used in medical applications and associated manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
