About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their distributed engineering team, working entirely remotely and supporting projects originating from Southampton . This role requires a high level of expertise in mechanical design, product development, and a proven ability to lead complex engineering tasks. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing and refining mechanical systems, working closely with a talented international team to deliver state-of-the-art solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components, ensuring optimal performance and manufacturability.
• Utilize advanced CAD software and simulation tools (FEA, CFD) to perform rigorous analysis and validation of designs.
• Collaborate effectively with remote colleagues across engineering, product management, and manufacturing teams to achieve project milestones.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and manufacturing instructions, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques to drive innovation in product design.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant professional experience (7+ years) in mechanical design, with a track record of leading successful projects.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and advanced simulation tools.
• Deep understanding of material science, mechanics of materials, and thermal dynamics.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound engineering judgments.
• Strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills, particularly for remote collaboration .
