About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their pioneering team, operating in a fully remote capacity, with proximity to Nottingham an advantage for occasional site visits if needed. This role is central to the design and development of advanced robotics and automation solutions. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and bringing to life cutting-edge mechanical systems that drive innovation in automated processes. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of robotic systems, automated machinery, and bespoke automation solutions from concept to production.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials using industry-standard software.
- Perform rigorous mechanical analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration simulations, to ensure design robustness.
- Select and integrate mechanical components such as motors, actuators, sensors, bearings, and power transmission systems.
- Collaborate effectively with remote electrical engineers, software developers, and controls specialists via digital platforms.
- Contribute to technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design, with a strong emphasis on robotics and automation .
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and experience with motion control principles.
- Solid understanding of mechatronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and material selection for dynamic systems.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage projects effectively, and communicate clearly in a remote setting.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools is a plus.
